- If something can't be cured, then it must be endured - the last Titanic survivor wise words before she died.
- Some things are within your power to control and some things are not - Gay Hendricks
- To Smile is to open the door to a happy heart, even when it's painful - the fact that you can actually fake it means you're in a better position then the rest of the suffering nation.
By the way, I saw somewhere that says something about to be a great woman I need to empower myself and be all that I want to be - an honest purposeful individual that contributes healthily to the development of the nation but at the same time, to not ever forget that I am still a woman. I would strongly appreciate the former but definitely not the latter. Seriously, how on earth would a woman will ever forget that she is in fact a woman?? The fact that there's the V and the floating devices, and of course the painful repeating PMS and menstrual cramps that we have to endure. How on earth would you ever forget that you are in fact a woman? I seriously believe that a man with very little or no cahones would say something like that - to remind woman that no matter how high we are, we are always a lesser being than men.
Being a feminist that I am, I detest to such idiocy. The thing is, no matter how high a woman is in life - career wise, social wise, etc we are still connected to each other embracing womanhood for the things that we have to endure for being women. Well, then again the obvious might not be the initial intention of the person saying those things. Maybe it is the fact that we are women therefore we should always remind ourselves that we need to be a little less strong and smart, just to stroke the male egos.
Then thinking more into it, maybe it means that all these empowering efforts that women are trying to uphold are linked to try to be men. Yeah all that 'penis envy' embargo. I never agree with Freud with that one. And saying to not forget (in the effort of being a so-called-man), that we are still and always will be a woman. WTH!!!
I am seriously so angry at this. Maybe I need to talk to my peeps more about it to understand what the writer really mean by saying those things. Please tell me if I'm being to emotional on this - well not really emotional just a little too passionate about being a feminist.
After talking to my peeps I realise what the writer was talking about. It is about women who are empowered in achieving their dreams to not forget to maintain their femininity or daintiness. Well personally I think, maintaining femininity and daintiness is a choice women are allowed to choose. Femininity and daintiness are social structures, expectations and loads of other patriarchal values that society put on women. Stating that women should conform to what patriarchal society asks women to be is like asking women to celebrate male dominance.
Women consists of individuals with unique personalities (and dressing codes) and of course ethics. These uniqueness and ethical values are subjective. There is no one right way or wrong - it all depends on what each individual believes in. So the point is, everyone gets to be what everyone wants to be. As long as you are honest, kind and don't hurt other people - you're a great person; even still those values too are subjective.
